5-6 July 2007 Orchard Hotel Singapore |
What is problem gambling?
How do governments, policy makers, healthcare professionals, educators, counsellors and therapists around the world - and Asia in particular - help compulsive gamblers and their families address and overcome issues related to gambling addiction?
What has worked so far, and what more could be done?
To raise public awareness and understanding of problem gambling, as well as build capabilities to address the issue, Singapore’s National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) will be organising its inaugural Problem Gambling Conference on 5-6 July 2007.
International and local experts will converge in Singapore to discuss various aspects of problem gambling – from the socio-cultural, psychological, medical, and public policy perspectives – as well as interact with gambling operators and the public to address the gaps in problem gambling research and policies in the Asian context. They will also equip healthcare professionals, educators and social work professionals with the relevant skills and knowledge to effectively prevent and treat gambling addiction.
